Thomas G. Hull

Thomas G. Hull was born in Greenville, Tennessee on May 20, 1926. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1951. Hull died on July 29, 2008.

Hull was a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1955 to 1965. He was a judge on the 20th Judicial Circuit of Tennessee from 1972 to 1979. He served as legal counsel to Governor Lamar Alexander from 1979 to 1981. U.S. President Ronald Regan nominated Hull for the federal judiciary in 1983. This position was previously held by Frank W. Wilson. Hull was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 9, 1983 and received his commission on November 14, 1983. He served as chief judge from 1984 to 1991. He assumed senior status on October 1, 2002.
