John Jennings, Jr.

John Jennings, Jr. was born on June 6, 1880 in Jacksboro, Tennessee. He graduated from U. S. Grant University in 1906. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1903. John Jennings, Jr. was elected to the 76th Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of J. Will Taylor. He was re-elected to the 77th, and the four succeeding Congresses. He served from December 30, 1939 to January 3, 1950.

John Jennings, Jr.’s papers are arranged into three collections. Material includes house correspondence, radio speeches, speeches, bills, claims, committee papers, notebooks, newsletters, scrapbooks, invitations, programs, newspaper clippings, photographs, and ephemera. The collections are stored in approximately 10 linear feet of boxes.
