This collection contains two pieces of correspondence. On February 3, 1949 Dwight Eisenhower (President of Columbia University) writes to “Miss Ordal.” On February 28, 1949 William F. Russell (Dean of the Teachers College at Columbia University) writes to “Miss Ordal.” Both pieces of correspondence are typed on Columbia University letterhead.

Dwight Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1915. Eisenhower commanded allied soldiers during World War Two. He was a Chief of Staff of the United States Army. He was also the first Supreme Commander of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Dwight Eisenhower was a president of Columbia University. He defeated Adlai Stevenson (D) for President of the United States of America in 1952. He was reelected in 1956.

Dwight Eisenhower died on March 28, 1969.
