The Modern Political Archive collects and preserves the American political record. Currently the archive represents select members of the U.S. Congress and Senate, the federal judiciary, and presidential cabinets. The archive also collects the personal papers of Tennessee Governors and private collectors. The material includes manuscripts, books, photographs, fine art, sound recordings, digital files, and ephemera.

Members of the public are invited to review our  finding aids for the archival collections.

The Modern Political Archive is located on the second floor of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy. The reading room is open to the public Monday through Friday from the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm. No appointment is necessary. However, we do appreciate when you schedule your visit in advance. This allows for a staff member to prepare your materials and to ensure your seat in the reading room.

If you have questions a staff member can be reached at 865-974-0939 or mpa@utk.edu.
