Bio: Dr. Amy Gibson has more than 10 years of experience working in academics and the non-profit sector, specializing in community building and development. Earning a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Tennessee in 1998, Dr. Gibson currently holds a position as Adjunct Professor at Maryville College and is the Senior Research Associate at the Baker Center. She has also held several director-level posts outside of academics. Most recently, her work at the Baker Center has focused on best practices in local government form and structure.
Dr. Gibson has extensive background in project management from her duties as Director of the Center for Calling and Career at Maryville College, as Executive Director of the Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum, and as the Marketing Director for Knoxville Habitat for Humanity.
