Reading and Book Signing by Ngugi wa Thiong’o

In partnership with the UT English Department, which is hosting Arts of the Present, Ngugi wa Thiong’o, Distinguished Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine will give a reading from one of his books. Ngugi is a vehement critic of corruption in African politics and someone who wrote his first novel on rolls of toilet tissue while in prison for protest against Kenya's government abuses of democratic freedom. His work calls for engagement to create a just civic life.
