Project Citizen
Staff Contact: Nissa Dahlin-Brown
Overseen by the Center for Civic Education, this civic education simulation allows K-12 and college students to get a better understanding of the public policy decision-making process. The Baker Center has led this activity for school groups (K-12 and higher education) as well as educators. At the end of the Project Citizen process, some school groups have made presentations to various boards (city councils, school boards, community boards) to propose public policy solutions in reaction to public issues witnessed by the students.
This simulation is ideal for teachers looking for an easy way to integrate civic education into various course curriculum (science, English, etc.). It is also ideal for student groups to work on as a training session to understand decision-making processes.
