K-12 Civic Education

At the K-12 level, the Howard Baker Center is involved in a number of initiatives that target students and teachers. The Center seeks to assist and encourage the teaching of the civic values which ensure good and responsible government. To this end the Center participates with local student organizations like the Youth Action Council and the Girl Scouts of America. It publishes lesson plans for teachers interested in bringing civic education to life. Through the efforts of Baker Scholars, the Center was able to establish a commission on civic education which assesses the impact of civic education across the state.
