Connecting the College of Nursing and the United Way of Anderson County
Thursday, August 6, 2009
In the summer of 2008, the Baker Center held a series of exploratory meetings between UT faculty and staff about a partnership between the United Way of Anderson County, who focuses mainly on providing services to the elderly in coordination with many public, private, and non-profit partners. This article discusses the partnership that has flourished after the Baker Center got these stakeholders at the same table discussing outcomes for the partnership.
The Baker Center has a special interest in community partnership building. The Baker Center is also trying to act as a catalyst organization on campus to connect university departments with community organizations in need of their partnership and to promote civic engagement via the University’s resources of faculty, staff and students. You can read more about these efforts in the “Civic Engagement” section of our website.
