Summer Teacher Academies Held with Knox County Schools

Earlier in June and July, about 50 teachers in two groups (5th grade and 11th grade) visited the Baker Center to find out about ways they can use the Baker Center to enhance their classroom experiences related to history, government, and civics. These teachers learned about the Modern Political Archives for using primary documents in the classroom, the free-and-open-to-the-public museum for field trip opportunities, and civic education exercises aimed at introducing the concepts of engaged citizenship and the political process. Teachers also learned about small educational grants that teachers can apply for to defray the costs of field trips to the Baker Center.
